Matthew,
I wanted to thank you for all your help and guidance through my PADI Rescue Diver Course. I also appreciate all the time you spent with me on the phone before my trip as I was debating when and what certification to achieve. Your advice also made a world of difference, from which CPR class to take prior to my arrival to Anguilla to recommending renting a car and a captain for a charter. On the dives, your crew was helpful and accommodating. As I mentioned, I will strongly recommend that our local dive shop look to Anguilla and Shoal Bay Scuba as a must go destination for one of our next trips.
As I look out to a frozen lake, I am already missing the experience.
All the best for 2012!!

Matthew,
Thank you for a great scuba diving experience last week! These were my first dives after having received my PADI/OWD certificate and I was not especially confident to start with. However, I quickly gained confidence thanks to the way you instructed me. Before this I was not completely convinced Scuba diving would be something for me – now I am :) These dives made a difference for me - Scuba diving is now something I will definitely continue doing!
Thanks Mia

Matthew,
My wife Meghan and I spent our honeymoon in Anguilla during the second/third weeks of August. After being recommended by various staff at the Viceroy and Cap Juluca hotels, we ventured to Shoal Bay and met you and your incredible staff. We started out with the intention of simply renting some snorkeling gear for the afternoon and checking out the reef right off shore.
A week later we had done the Discovery Scuba course, our first real dive (with an instructor), and the snorkeling/lunch trip to Prickly Pear. What an amazing adventure! You and your teams exceptional knowledge of of diving and enthusiasm about the Anguillian diving areas is infectious. Being a first time diver myself (my wife is already PADI certified), this experience really opened my eyes to a new world down under. I'm currently about to begin my PADI certification courses back in the states and hope to come back to Anguilla soon to dive with you again.
All the best!
Kent and Meghan

Matthew,
Our Anguillan vacation experience was enhanced significantly by diving with you, and your efficient and friendly team.
We especially enjoyed our family wreck dive, something to remember forever. It was our hope, when Claudia and I became certified that we would be able to enjoy scuba diving as a whole family, and diving with you was our first proper time doing that, with all of us fully certified. The extra support you offered us, to build mine and Claudia's confidence, in our early stages, made all the difference, and we can't wait to do it again.
It is evident from the beginning that you operate in an extremely safe, professional and efficient way, supporting divers of every level.
A big thank you to you, Metro, Pete from Steve, myself, Olivia and Claudia

Could not imagine a better way to take in the sights of Anguilla. From the moment Matthew, owner of Shoal Bay Scuba, took us through our first scuba class in the Viceroy's pool to our first open water dive on a reef off Shoal Bay, we felt comfortable, informed, equipped and THRILLED. It's a whole new world that opens up to you when you swim with the fishes! This was the best money we spent during our two week vacation. We've always snorkeled, but after one dive we're hooked! We plan on continuing our certification with Matthew next year.

My group of 8 travelled to Anguilla in July 2011 to experience Caribbean luxury at its finest. To our surprise, this extended beyond the villa and restaurants and spilled over to the recreation. Shoal Bay Scuba provided us with the snorkeling trip of a lifetime and exceeded every expectation any of us had for the outing. Personally, I have been to many Caribbean and Central American locations, as well as the Florida Keys, and have snorkeled at all of them, but after my trip with Shoal Bay Scuba, the bar was definitely raised. I fully intend on returning, sooner rather than later, to Shoal Bay and indulge in another exceptional diving or snorkeling adventure

Matthew, Peter, Pinky and Metro - 03rd July 2011
Thank you for looking after us whilst we were visiting Anguilla from a British military unit. We have been fortunate to dive on several islands around the Caribbean, and your friendly professional outfit is the best we have come across so far! The dive sites were extremely diverse; a special mention should go to the M/V Meppel which was used during the evacuation of Dunkirk in WW2 – very poignant for us in particular...
I wish all of you the best, and will obviously recommend you to friends and colleagues who may be visiting Anguilla in the future.

Matthew, Pinky & Metro,
Thanks so much for great experience. For someone like me who only dives once a year (if that often), I really appreciate the time and patience you showed me. Look forward to doing it again.

Paul.

We were enthusiastically referred to Shoal Bay Scuba (and particularly to Matthew) by a guest at our hotel and our experience certainly lived up to the recommendation. We enrolled in "Discover Scuba"...One certified diver who had not been diving in a while, one "experienced" resort diver and three never-been-before children (12, 15 and 17), This entailed learning some basic skills in the pool and a shore dive directly in front of the shop. For our kids' first experience it was terrific. Everyone felt safe and comfortable and as soon as we were out of the water the kids wanted to sign up for a shallow water reef dive later in the week. Matthew is a solid instructor...appropriately serious and safety conscious and a very skilled teacher. Matthew accompanied us on our shallow water reef dive later in the week and was able to keep the new divers calm, focused and confident in the open water. Above all else...we knew that our safety was Matthew's top priority at all times. After the reef dive our kids are hooked and can't wait to get back in the water. Mom decided to get certified under Matthew's instruction later in the week. You only have that "first dive" experience once and we are glad our kids had it with Matthew and Shoal Bay Scuba. And it's not just Matthew. All the SBS staff that we met, Metro and Pinky was friendly and helpful. Not diving related but we also went on SBS's afternoon trip to Prickly Pear and Little Bay. A very nice way to spend an afternoon. We will be back.

Matthew: Thank you again for a great day of diving. I really appreciated you tracking me down in the computer as I was without my PADI card. Your service was truly above and beyond the call as it was on the boat. You guys were great. Totally in touch with all of the divers on the boat. Metro both briefed us and accompanied the group down and he kept a close eye on the least experienced divers. I really enjoyed theday and am only sorry that I could not repeat the experience with your team all week. I will definitely find you when I return to Anguilla. Best of luck!

Duncan

Thank you so much for making my first dive a truly wonderful experience. Even though I have wanted to dive for years I was very nervous, but you Pinky and Metro made me feel very comfortable and safe! I look forward to seeing you next year! Good luck with your wedding plans!

Kathy

Phenomenal dive!!! Matthew and staff, thank you so much. Incredible! I won't hesitate to recommend Shoal Bay SCUBA, and I plan on returning in the future...

I have had occasion to use many dive shops in the Caribbean and I would highly recommend Shoal Bay. This is truly a professional dive shop with extremely knowledgeable and trained dive masters. Their mainconcerns are your safety and your enjoyment. They took the time to understand what I wanted in a dive and went out of their way to make it happen. When back in Anguilla, I will go back to Shoal Bay without hesitation.

Matthew,
I would like to start by thanking you and your team for a wonderful week of last. You run a very professional dive company. It was a wonderful experience to do some diving on Anguilla which was a first for me and hope it will happen again some time soon.

David Templeton 28th November 2009
Hello Matthew,
I got certified through your course back in June 09. I hope you and your business are doing well! I know you do many certifications and you may or may not remember me.... (I am a pilot and was there with my wife, who didn't dive but ask you so many questions..) Anyway I did my first dive today, in Puerto Vallarta, since my certification and dove with a guy who had quite a bit of experience.... At the end of the dive he asked how many dives I had and told him that this was dive 6 and 7 for me... He said "wow! You seemed like a very experienced diver". I'm quite sure that this was because of my training. So thanks to you for all that you did to train me! Thanks for being an excellent instructor! Keep up the good work!
Sincerely,
David Templeton

"I went on two dives with Shoal Bay Scuba and thoroughly enjoyed myself! These dives were my 21st and 22nd dives since becoming certified. I found the operation to be efficient and the dive instructors and masters to be very competent. They created an atmosphere that was relaxed yet safe. Viewing the marine life, the multicolored coral and oversized lobsters under the crystal clear waters of Anguilla was a delight that I look forward to repeating." - Nicole Cutts, Washington, DC

"I really enjoyed the diving. You have a great operation that is safe, professional and makes for fun diving - It also helps that there are so many amazing sites - reefs and wrecks to choose from." - Katherine M. Asheville NC

"I wanted to say you thank you for spending with us part of our holidays. The wonderful dives at Dog Island, wonderful journeys all together (you, and gang), and afterwards the "professional" beach volley games. For me it's difficult to ask for more." - Mario & Francy, Milan.

"It is always very comforting when you arrive at a dive centre for the first time (as a relatively inexperienced diver who if lucky gets 4- 5 dives done per year maximum), to see and meet return divers. I believe that this is the biggest kudos and speaks for itself. Several return divers were around on the first morning and it was obvious that they were there, not only because of the fabulous dive sites in the vicinity and the equipment at offer, but also due to the atmosphere created at the dive centre by Matthew and his team. From the first moment you arrive at the Shoal Bay Scuba centre, which is run by Matthew (make sure you do not touch his Diet Coke) you are taken care of, introduced to your fellow divers in casual conversation and fitted out. A quick run through of your dive experience if you are not one of the hard core returns and then buddied up. Smooth, fast and fun. Then you are introduced to Lady Lou, a state of the art dive boat which quickly becomes the place where stories are told, experiences shared and friendships made. Isn't that what diving is all about? If you dive several days, your equipment will be waiting for you so that you do not have to go through the agony of finding fins and mask etc every morning. Now if you do not like to have your dive style corrected this is not the centre for you. They will give you feedback and they will tell you if you manage your dive incorrectly, all done in a friendly way, meant for you to improve. However compliments are given as well - and who does not like a compliment! For those of you who follow the metric system and talks Kg, Meters and Bars don't worry - they will convert for you when doing the dive briefings. And for the dive sites well what can I say... Sharks, turtles, rays, lobsters, Jew fish and an array of angel fish, doctor fish, bigeye, you have shallow dives, drift dives, reefs and wrecks just to mention a few. It is all available just a stone throw away and Matthew and his crew makes sure if they have divers over several days that sites are not repeated unless of course the customer asks for it. Taylor made to the individual which fits the group" - Pernille, the Dane in Macao
